Arpa Foundation for Film, Music & Art and the American Cinematheque were honored to host the first United States premiere of the highly anticipated motion picture 1915 The Movie at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 7PM. This was an exclusive opportunity to be part of the red carpet extravaganza during a historic event, days before the 1915 The Movie was released in theaters on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

About 1915 event and screening

The red carpet was rolled out at 6:30 p.m. for a wine and dinner reception with the filmmakers, producers, cast, and crew at the iconic Egyptian Theatre courtyard, leading to the 8:30 p.m. premiere. A candid conversation with the filmmakers Garin Hovannisian and Alec Mouhibian will immediately followed the screening. A limited number of tickets were available for purchase, granting total access to the event that was completely sold out.

The historic Egyptian Theatre lit up with excitement and energy as industry professionals, organizations leaders, and international dignitaries attended to show their support for the film and the cause. The film was made to commemorate the 100th year since the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Amidst several events commemorating the occasion around the world, 1915 The Movie premiere in the heart of Hollywood was the only film released about the Genocide to promote the film’s release the following weekend.

About 1915 the movie

The film was made to commemorate the 100th year since the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Amidst several events commemorating the occasion around the world, 1915 The Movie premiere in the heart of Hollywood was the only film released about the Genocide to promote the film’s release the following weekend.

1915 The Movie is a mind-bending psychological thriller set exactly 100 years after the Armenian Genocide, following one man’s controversial mission to bring the ghosts of that forgotten crime back to life. The feature film debut of writer-directors Garin Hovannisian and Alec Mouhibian, 1915 stars Simon Abkarian (GETT, CASINO ROYALE), Angela Sarafyan (THE TWILIGHT SAGA, BREAKING DAWN PART 2), Sam Page (HOUSE OF CARDS, MAD MEN), and Nikolai Kinski (YVES SAINT LAUREN). The film also features an original score composed by Serj Tankian, the Grammy Award-winning front man of the band System of a Down.
